Jessica is interested in human perception, attention, and memory as it relates to face-to-face interactions. With the rise in social media, and technology in general, she is dedicated to fully understanding the cognitive processes behind what we frequently miss out on: in-person communication.
TEACHING INTERESTS and FUTURE GOALS
Jessica is interested in teaching sensation/perception and memory. These topics spark her interest because she often wonders how each individual experiences “reality” differently based on their past experiences and how they perceive the world around them.
Outside of school, Jessica is passionate about informing the public on how the brain works. She is, with the help of her sister, creating an informational video series in hopes to inform the public on different topics related to neuroscience and mental health.
Do we become deaf to certain tones when completing a task that is visually demanding? Jessica hopes to fully understand human’s perceptual limits when attending to certain stimuli. She hopes to use this project to further her understanding of our attentional capabilities during interaction with others.
